The age of virtual meetings have turned most people’s calendars into a car crash. People were busy pre-Covid but post-Covid busyness is more due to the prevalence of remote work and heavy reliance on virtual meetings to get work done.
It’s pretty normal now for calendars to be booked flat out from 8am to 6pm with no breaks in-between. This is unhealthy and unsustainable. One of the core tenets of agile is to enable teams to work at a sustainable pace.
Some teams I’ve worked with have implemented things like no meeting Fridays or no meetings between 12-1pm so that people can actually have a lunch break away from their desks.
If your calendar (or that of your team members) is a constant car crash, this is probably worth considering to lighten the load of your days and give you the breaks you need in order to continue performing at a high level. Remember that being busy does not always translate to being productive.
